The Sun Ultra 1E uses Sun's UltraSPARC 64-bit processor with built-in multimedia support. The Ultra 1E is an enhanced version of Sun's entry level Ultra 1 with several performance enhancing additions. The Ultra 1E is only available as a refurbished machine as the system is now replaced by the Ultra 60 with a single CPU.
The Ultra 1E is only available as a desktop workstation. The Ultra 1E can be turned into a server by purchasing a desktop to server license upgrade. The Ultra 1E is available with either a single 167Mhz or 200Mhz Processor. The Ultra 1E has several advantages over the entry level Ultra 1 model. As well as the option of faster processors, the systems provide a Fast & Wide SCSI interface, 24-bit Creator Graphics and 10/100 Fast Ethernet.
