Independent Sun Blade 2000 Workstation Support Expertise

The Sun BLADE 2000 is the new 64-bit high performance workstation which supports up to two 900MHz or 1050Mhz UltraSPARC III Cu processors. The Sun Blade 2000 workstation supports a maximum of two UltraSPARC III Cu processors and up to 8Gb of total memory. As with the Sun Enterprise 10000, the system has a crossbar switch interconnect for higher data throughput.
The Sun Blade 2000 workstation has one 10/100 RJ45 port, four 64-bit PCI slots (three at 33Mhz and one at 66Mhz), 2 UPA slots, four USB ports, two IEEE 1394 'firewire' interfaces, two serial interfaces and one parallel interface. One FC-AL Fibre Channel interface is provided for external storage.
The Sun Blade 2000 supports up to two 73Gb FC-AL disks providing up to 146Gb of total internal disk space.
The Sun Blade 2000 has two dedicated UPA graphics card slots which allows either the Sun Creator3D, Sun Elite 3D m6, or Sun Expert3D graphics cards to be used. The Sun Blade 2000 can therefore support two high performance graphics cards for a dual head display configuration. (You can add yet more monitors by using PCI based graphics cards).
The Sun Blade 2000 is also available with the new XVR-1000 graphics accelerator which has 72Mb of dedicated frame buffer memory and 256Mb of dedicated texture memory.
The Sun Blade 2000 has 3 removable media slots for choice of DVD-ROM, 4mm tape drive or floppy. A Smart card reader is standard.
Only the latest version of Solaris 8 is compatible with this workstation.
