Independent Sun Blade 1000 Support Expertise

The Sun Blade 1000 is the new 64-bit high performance workstation using the latest generation of Sun processor, the UltraSPARC III.
The Sun Blade 1000 workstation, is available in three configurations.

The Sun Blade 1000 workstation supports a maximum of two processors and 8Gb of memory. As with the Sun Enterprise 10000, the system has a crossbar switch interconnect for higher data throughput.

The Sun Blade 1000 workstation has one 10/100 RJ45 port, four 64-bit PCI slots (three at 33Mhz and one at 66Mhz), four USB ports and two IEEE 1394 'firewire' interfaces. One FC-AL Fibre Channel interface is provided for external storage.

For the first time in a workstation, The Sun Blade 1000 supports two internal FC-AL Fibre disks. These are currently available in a 36.4Gb capacity at 10,000 rpm.

The Sun Blade 1000 workstation, has two dedicated UPA graphics card slots which allows either the Sun Creator3D, SUN Elite 3D m6, or Sun Expert3D graphics cards to be used. The Sun Blade 10000 can therefore support two high performance graphics cards for a dual head display configurations. (More monitors can be supported using PCI based graphics cards)

The Sun Blade 1000 workstation, has 3 removable media slots for choice of DVD-ROM, 4mm tape drive or floppy. A Smart card reader is standard. Because of the new UltraSPARC-III processor and the use of USB technology, Solaris 8 is the only supported operating system.
